Remembering Dick Fezatte
Richard Alan Fezatte passed away on May 20th, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on Christmas Day 1940 in Stephenson, Michigan to Clarence Fezatte and Beatrice Perry Fezatte. He graduated from Powers – Spalding High School in 1958. He was Class Valedictorian, Class President, Representative to Boys State and winner of several academic honors. He then progressed to Central Michigan University where he majored in Chemistry. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1962. After graduation he taught chemistry and mathematics at Frankfort High School for 2 years and Oscoda Area High School for 3 years.
After 5 years of teaching, he left education and joined The Dow Chemical Company. He was with Dow for 30 years and held many executive positions. He married Janet Alice Downs April 2, 1966. They are parents of two children Robert Alan Fezatte and Michael Thomas Fezatte.
After his retirement from Dow Chemical, he worked as a manager at Akard True Value Hardware in Zionsville, Indiana. He loved working with the employees and customers.
Richard was a loving husband and father. At the time of his passing, he and Janet were married for 54 years. He was an avid card player and lover of the game of golf; especially golfing with his sons and friends. He loved traveling, quiet dinners with his wife and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janet Alice Fezatte; sons, Robert Alan Fezatte and his wife Heidi Benedict Fezatte and Michael Thomas Fezatte and his wife Rebecca Marshall Fezatte; granddaughters, Renee Nicole Fezatte and Madeleine Louise Fezatte; his brother, Perry James Fezatte and his wife Sharon Fezatte. Following the death of his father in World War II, his mother married Melvin Fazer who along with his mother, Beatrice, preceded him in death. He is also survived by his half-siblings Bruce Fazer and his wife Sherry, Wendy Fazer LaBonte and her husband Lemrod Labonte, William Fazer and his wife Brenda, and Charles Fazer and his wife Doreen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Zionsville, Indiana on June 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM EDT. Entombment will be at the Columbarium at the church with a light luncheon afterward. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Zionsville, IN.
