Choir Programs (Vocal & Instrumental)

We’d love to have YOU join us!  Please call Choir Director Robert Bolyard for more information, 317-873-4377, ext. 204.

St. Francis Choir (Adults and Teens)

Ages: Grades 7 through adult
Rehearsals: Sunday Mornings, 8:30 a.m, followed by worship at 10:00 a.m. on most Sundays; additional monthly Thursday evening rehearsal on the second Thursday of the month, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The St. Francis Choir leads the 10 a.m. Sunday Eucharist (Rite II). Our repertoire is focused, but by no means limited to, the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, extending from the Renaissance to the 20th century, both acapella and accompanied. As in our hymnody and service music, the anthems we prepare will sometimes include music from other Christian traditions and from cultures around the world, as we strive to both see Christ in all persons and understand how other persons see Christ. We have participated in multi-choir concerts of special music (Faure's Requiem and Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs), in diocesan and Zionsville-area ecumenical joint services, and in Hymn Festivals.

St. Francis Handbell Choir

Ages: Grades 4 through adult
Rehearsals: Occasional, based on what we are preparing.

Never played handbells? Our director will teach and work with you. Ringers play every so often for special occasions - handbells are a great introduction to the joys of making music with other people, and the low barrier of entry makes it especially suitable for newbies!

Summer Impromptu Choir

Do you enjoy singing? Come launch the Summer Impromptu Choir with friends and various choir members on the last Sundays of June and July!

No commitment, no vesting, no prior singing experience needed. We will rehearse the hymns/service music the congregation will sing and then prepare a simple anthem based on a hymn tune you’re sure to know. Want to sit with your family?  Bring them up with you! Come once, twice or all three Sundays for musical fun and fellowship within a welcoming atmosphere. All Sunday morning rehearsals begin at 9 a.m. in the nave Gallery.

Occasional Choir

This is a wonderful opportunity to join the choir for special occasions, e.g. Christmas, Easter, and Music Appreciation Sunday!

Ages: Grades 7 through Adult who enjoy singing and desire a short-term commitment
Rehearsals:   Typically one Thursday evening rehearsal in addition to the Sunday morning/special service in question.
