The life of the church doesn’t always happen inside a building on Sunday. St. Francis uses Realm, the online communications and record keeping platform, to connect easily and safely, on any day, at any time. Frequently Asked Questions we've received so far:
How does this system protect my privacy?
Realm is only made up of the people in your church, it’s not like a social network that’s open to everyone. Realm keeps your data safe and gives you control over what you share and who can see it.
Your information is your information! You have complete control over who can see your contact and personal information. Your information is never public or searchable on the Internet. Any information you elect to make visible to your church family is always protected behind a password required login.
You and certain authorized staff may update your profile information. In some cases, your group leader may update your contact information if you have made it visible to group leaders.
For safety reasons, sharing contact and personal information is limited. Parents determine whether or not to display their child’s name in the church directory. Children under 13 may not participate and will not be able to sign in.
You decide the level of privacy you would like to have available on your profile page.
By default, the viewing of your contact and personal information is limited to members of groups you are in, group leaders, and staff members. If you choose to, however, you can make your information visible to the entire church. But if you prefer to be more private, you can customize how people see specific information.
How do I manage email notifications from my groups?
You can control the amount of email you get for each of your groups. Click the down arrow next to your name and click "Email Settings". You can then select your settings for each group that you are a member of.
If there is an event going on in your groups with lots of comments that you don't want to see (temporarily), you can go to the message and click the image of the bell to temporarily halt or adjust your notifications.
Can other people see information about my child?
Only church staff and their group leaders are able to view any contact information of children under age 18.
Is our paper church directory going away?
We do not anticipate our church directory going away, but it will not be published more than once every two to three years. Realm offers parishioners to update their information and allow others to access this information with a quick click. This will mean that the Realm online directory will stay up to date beyond the printed directory.
What if I don’t have a pc or smart phone? Will I be out of the communication loop on everything at church?
St. Francis In-The-Fields will continue to print the announcements in the bulletin, to ask people to make announcements during the Holy Eucharist worship services on Sundays, and have resources available on the Narthex table. We will also continue to have our weekly newsletter, both by e-mail and in print available to anyone who wishes to receive it.
We will also have a computer readily available on Sundays and during office hours, Monday through Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm, in the Parlor. Anyone without computer access is welcome to use the desktop computer at their convenience.
